Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic motivated individual to undertake an apprenticeship in cardiac physiology starting in September 2020.

Healthcare scientists perform lifesaving clinical tests to diagnose specific heart problems.

An apprentice in healthcare science would be a self-motivated individual who is dedicated to learning and practicing cardiac science skills, completing an undergraduate degree whilst successfully working full time in the NHS. Be able to demonstrate aptitudes for the use of technology in healthcare and consistently convey a caring andcompassionate professional nature.

Training will be based at the busy and dynamic Cardiology Investigations Department at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospital. You will also undertake the 3 year level 6 apprenticeship degree (cardiac physiology healthcare science) in conjunction with the University of the West of England. This will involve travel to their site.

To apply for the apprenticeship you will need to:

  • Hold at least 2 good grade science A Levels that include Biology or Chemistry science subjects (see job description for additional/alternative requirements)

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the cardiac science profession

  • Commitment to the Practitioner Training Programme in healthcare science (that includes successful completion of all training activities and staged assessments)

  • Demonstrate a commitment to our Trust and its values

Applications are encouraged from applicantants with expected A Levels grades and conditional offers may be made whilst waiting results.
