About the role
Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Collection & Delivery Driver to provide a reliable service to our customer; the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). We support the UK's largest police service by managing the availability of over 3,500 MPS vehicles and associated specialist equipment, providing Vehicle Repair & Maintenance, Collision Repair, Logistics Support and Fleet Administration- we do this across three workshops 24/7, 365 days a year.

As a Collection & Delivery Driver you'll be responsible for collecting and delivering a range of vehicles to and from various MPS Stations, Babcock workshops/garages, external dealerships and other locations across the London network. You'll find yourself behind the wheel of a whole range of different vehicles; you'll be responsible for providing an efficient and courteous service to the MPS; exhibiting appropriate behaviour in accordance with our company's ethos and Health & Safety policy.

What do I need to do the role?
Significant experience in a driving role is crucial and you must have held the minimum standard UK C1 driver's licence for 5 years or more. It is also essential that you have no more than 3 points on your licence and have never been convicted for any related drink driving offence.

We would also like you to have the following:-

  • ability to drive up to 7.5T;
  • good geographical knowledge of London;
  • sound knowledge of Vehicle Regulations, Traffic Legislation and the Highway Code;
  • basic knowledge of the Working Time Directive and Drivers hours;
  • live locally (West London) within easy travelling distance of our Park Royal workshop

Lastly, you'll also need excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to interface effectively with workshops/garages/dealerships and members of the MPS.

What else do I need to know?

  • Standard hours of work are 6:30am - 4:00 pm, Tuesday to Saturday (overtime at time and half for Sundays and Mondays)
  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy security requirements. This will require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving CTC security clearance. You must be a UK national who has been continuously resident in the UK for the past 5 years. Security checks also include a minimum of 3 years' employment reference checks, financial and police background checks.
