**14 month Fixed Term Contract - Apprenticeship

We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship Standard within the duration of the placement.

Our Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital incorporates Children’s Inpatient, Ambulatory, Emergency, Neonatal and Outpatient care. We treat children and young people across a broad range of specialties including Paediatric Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, plastics and much more. We also have a dedicated Surgical and medical HDU. Our collaborative team care to children living in Norfolk and for those accessing specialist treatments across the Eastern Region.

We currently have an Apprentice Health Care Assistant Vacancy on our Inpatient Children’s Ward, Buxton Ward and Children’s Assessment Unit.

We are looking to employ a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for the delivery of care to children admitted to the hospital.

To work with all members of the Ward/Department clinical team within the multi-disciplinary framework. Maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Ward/Department Sister/Charge Nurse.

To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

Eligibility Criteria:

All applicants must be:

  • Aged 16+
  • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three years
  • Must not have a qualification at the equivalent or above level in a similar subject (there needs to be significant new learning)
  • Must NOT be in any form of formal government-funded education

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Good general standard of education
  • 4 GCSE’s at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent)
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skill
  • Good IT skills

Full time: 37.5 hours per week. Including weekends
