Your job as a delivery driver for Just Eat is to make sure food gets picked up and delivered on time to hungry customers; it’s really that simple! There are only two requirements for you to become a Just Eat driver: you’re at least 18 years of age, and you have a valid driving licence (plus Hire & Reward insurance) if you want to make deliveries by motorbike or car. If you don’t have the latter, it is possible to become a bike courier with Just Eat; most choose to use an ebike as it’s an easier way of getting around. You're responsible for providing and maintaining your own equipment as a Just Eat courier.
The number of orders you can expect to deliver as a Just Eat courier can vary depending on the day of the week and time of day. The system will match your availability and location with the exact time food will be ready to collect from one of Just Eat’s partners. Skills you’ll need to succeed in your job as a Just Eat delivery driver are to work well under pressure, know how to manage your time, and provide great service to both clients (restaurants) and customers.
So what about money? You become an independent contractor when you apply for a Just Eat delivery driver job. You earn money through your delivery fee, which is based on distance and driving time; this will be explained further as part of your training. For those on a fixed hourly rate, you can earn around £9-£11 per hour (excluding tips!). Just Eat does not take a commission on your fees, so you keep all the money you make as a Just Eat courier.
