Job description

Kier Construction have an excellent opportunity in our North East business for a Quantity Surveyor to join us. 

The Quantity Surveyor will be initially aligned with a new build, mixed use leisure and arts facility in Blyth working closely with the commercial lead 

 

Location: Newcastle, Blyth 

 

Contract: Full Time, Permanent 

 

What will you be responsible for? 

As Quantity Surveyor you will take a key role in the management and mitigation of cost and risk of projects, to enhance value for money, while still achieving the required legal standards and quality under the specific agreed contract conditions.

What will your day to day will include?:

  • Organising the division of projects into component work packages for procurement, assessing returns from sub-contractors and awarding work packages.
  • Negotiating with sub-contractor supply chain to achieve best value.
  • Managing applications for payment from sub contractors, preparation of applications for payment to clients.
  • Monitoring and measuring actual expenditure against budgeted project expenditure in the form of CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation Reports

 

What are we looking for?

This role of Quantity Surveyor is great for you if:

  • You hold relevant qualification in quantity surveying
  • You can demonstrate prior quantity surveying experience gained within the main contractor environment
  • You have strong knowledge of delivering under NEC / JCT Contract conditions 
  • You are Confident  in dealing with client reps, sub contractors and internal stakeholders
