Stannah, a trusted name in lift and escalator solution, is seeking a Technical Escalator Manager to lead national efforts in improving first-time fix rates and reducing repeat call incidents across the Network Rail Maintenance portfolio. This role is to cover the North of England.

As the Technical Escalator Manager, you will play a key role in developing a strategic improvement plan that enhances the technical knowledge and skills of both engineers and field management.

By fostering a culture of technical excellence, you will ensure that product-specific support documentation and maintenance methodologies are developed and embedded across the team.

This role involves regular collaboration with engineers, field managers, and suppliers to identify issues, deliver training programs, and implement process improvements to optimise asset reliability and customer satisfaction.

This position requires an experienced professional from the escalator industry, capable of driving technical improvements and ensuring operational excellence across the national portfolio.

Travelling and occasional overnight stays will be required as part of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Infrastructure Operations Manager, the Technical Escalator Manager will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing a national improvement plan focused on enhancing first-time fix rates and reducing repeat calls.
  • Analysing performance data to identify and prioritize underperforming assets, and implementing targeted solutions.
  • Designing and delivering technical training programs for engineers and field managers to address product and skill gaps.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to create product-specific technical documentation and adjust maintenance methodologies.
  • Leading strategic reviews and measuring the effectiveness of training and performance improvements.
  • Acting as a technical leader to motivate, coach, and engage branch engineers and technicians to improve overall field performance.
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with internal teams, customers, and external suppliers to drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist the local service branches to diagnose, identify and source parts and equipment

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in technical service management, within the escalator industry.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a focus on coaching and motivating teams.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering technical improvement programs and driving operational performance.
  • Ability to develop and manage working relationships at all levels, ensuring full engagement with technical and service development programs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and strategic approach to service delivery.
  • Relevant professional or technical qualifications, including NVQ Level 3 in Escalator Engineering (required) and NVQ Level 4 in Testing and Commissioning (desirable).
