The service you will work in….

The Oremi Day Centre service delivers person-centered and holistic support to service users, aged over 18, who have a severe and/or enduring mental health need and living in Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea which includes targeted services to service users from African, Caribbean and Arabic speaking heritage. Our service enables users to avoid, and in particular to reduce the need for, prolonged hospital admissions and long-term dependency on mental health services.

We promote recovery and prevent social exclusion among service users with mental health support needs and offer a wide range of group activities that are tailored to the service users' needs. Group activities are run by our in-house team of experienced and trained Group Facilitators, by sessional tutors and in co-production with service users. 

A day in this role looks like….

As a Group Facilitator at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health & Complex Needs service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • Be responsible for the support and well-being of a caseload of African, Caribbean, and Arabic speaking service users allocated from across the team using holistic, person-centred support planning with SMART targets and the recovery star using the recovery approach to enable them to increase independence, maintain their accommodation and enjoy a good quality of life. 
  • Ensure that specific services and activities are provided to meet the needs of African, Caribbean, and Arabic speaking service users.
  • Minimise unplanned and emergency hospital admissions for mental health relapse. To formulate, implement and review support plans with service users and associated professionals.
  • Ability to support service users to achieve their goals & aspirations in a culturally appropriate setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of issues related to signs, symptoms, and treatments of mental illness; ability to assess service users declining mental health and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to help service users to acquire, develop or enhance their daily living skills.
  • Experience of promoting, implementing, maintaining Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion good practice.
  • Knowledge of health and safety relevant to the role including lone working within a community setting.
