Job description

Job title: Bid Manager

Location: Weapon Systems UK, Barrow in Furness – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £55,000 – £69,000 (Depending on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • You are leading and managing the bid team, including co-ordination across all functions/capabilities, through all aspects of a bid including requirements capture activities, bid scheduling and budgeting, developing resource and materials estimates and executing the Bid Management Plan
  • You are developing and maintaining the project baseline: work breakdown structure (WBS), organisational breakdown structure (OBS), risk and opportunity register, project resource and management plans
  • You will be scheduling and co-ordinating the preparation for key bid reviews, including Lifecycle Management Reviews, to assure bid quality and compliance. Capturing actions and lessons learnt from reviews and ensuring all relevant experience is reflected in the development of bids and processes
  • You are going to be managing the business approval process including relevant security and export approvals and the configuration control of key bid documentation
  • You will be leading all aspects of the planning and execution of the overall proposal development effort to deliver compelling and innovative customer proposals
  • You will interact with bid stakeholders including senior management and customer representatives
  • You will keep the Campaign leadership team informed and engaged including timely escalation of issues needing resolution

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Qualified to degree standard or equivalent and have Project Management qualifications or relevant experience
  • Experienced Project Manager with Bid Management experience from within a defence or similar industry (Engineering/ Procurement/ Government contracts)
  • Dynamic problem solver with the ability to produce innovative solutions to solve complex issues.
  • Excellent collaboration and influencing skills working with stakeholders within the customer domain and internally across multiple disciplines
  • Resilient and able to operate in a dynamic fast-moving environment and able to adapt and work under pressure
  • Have confidence to lead, use initiative and drive progress reviews
