Overview

Gallagher Global Technology Services is seeking a visionary Director to spearhead data technology initiatives across our UK operations. This leadership role will focus on defining and executing the strategic roadmap for modernizing and optimizing data infrastructure, driving innovation, and ensuring alignment with broader business goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading data-driven transformations at a senior level, managing large-scale data ecosystems, and overseeing cross-functional Agile teams.

 

As the Director of Data Technology, you will be responsible for steering high-impact projects, ensuring data integrity and governance, and delivering data solutions that enhance business intelligence and operational efficiency.


How you'll make an impact

  1. Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and drive the data technology strategy for the UK division, ensuring alignment with global business objectives.
    • Lead transformation initiatives that modernize data infrastructure, implementing cutting-edge technologies such as cloud data warehouses, data lakes, and advanced analytics platforms.
    • Foster innovation by identifying emerging trends in data technology and applying them to business opportunities.
    • Collaborate with global counterparts to ensure consistency in data architecture, governance, and technology standards.
  2. Executive Oversight of Data Technology Projects:

    • Oversee the execution of critical data technology projects, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and resources are managed effectively.
    • Serve as the primary decision-maker on key technological investments and ensure the optimization of data assets for business value.
    • Establish metrics to track the performance of data initiatives and ensure continuous improvement.
  3. Data Governance and Compliance:

    • Set the vision for data governance, ensuring compliance with UK-specific data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and global governance standards.
    • Partner with data governance teams to implement frameworks that safeguard data integrity and quality across the organization.
    • Ensure best practices in data security and risk management are followed consistently across all data technology projects.
  4. Agile Team Leadership:

    • Lead multiple Agile squads with a focus on achieving strategic objectives and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
    • Ensure that Agile practices are adhered to, while continually seeking opportunities to improve team productivity and project outcomes.
    • Mentor senior leaders within the data technology teams, providing guidance and development to enhance their leadership and technical capabilities.
  5. Stakeholder and Executive Communication:

    • Act as a strategic advisor to the UK senior leadership team on all matters related to data technology.
    • Present data-driven insights and updates on technology initiatives to the senior leaders, ensuring they are well-informed to make strategic decisions.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across business units, IT, and external partners to support the successful delivery of data initiatives.
  6. Leadership and Talent Development:

    • Shape the culture of the data technology organization, focusing on developing a high-performing team with a strong focus on innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
    • Drive succession planning and talent development to build a pipeline of future data leaders within the UK.
    • Establish a performance-driven culture by setting clear goals and KPIs, and regularly reviewing team performance.

About You

  • Experience:

    • Extensive experience gained working in data technology leadership role preferably at a director or senior director level.
    • Extensive experience in managing large-scale data infrastructures, including data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL processes.
    • Strong track record of successfully leading cross-functional Agile teams to deliver complex data projects.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • In-depth understanding of modern data technologies (cloud platforms, AI/ML analytics, real-time data processing, etc.) and their application to business challenges.
    • Expertise in data governance, security, and compliance, particularly within the UK regulatory landscape (e.g., GDPR).
  • Leadership Skills:

    • Proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
    • Strategic mindset
