Because of a key strategic development and a new exciting business opportunity, we have a requirement for a security-cleared Deputy Programme Manager based in the UK working at our Farnborough site and remotely.
Leidos has more than 30 years’ experience of developing and running some of the largest government systems in the world. We are currently hiring to expand our UK based technical team who support our delivery for the UK Govt.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
As a result of some exciting programme wins, we currently have a permanent vacancy for a Deputy Programme Manager to work alongside the Programme Manager and Release Train Engineer for our Government client. Supporting a multi-functional team and to manage the scheduling of project delivery, change and new business. This position is a full time, permanent role and applicants must have SC clearance or be willing to undergo the clearance process.
The role will be embedded in the P3M Team supporting the transition, development & in-service running (inc. Capability upgrades) of an IT application and Network solution providing support to a critical operational end user.
Your role and responsibilities
• Responsibility for administrating Project activities and providing direction and corrective actions to ensure that milestones achieve their acceptance criteria on time and within budget
• Ensure that robust Management Plans (including PMP and IMS) are created, maintained and applied in accordance with industry best practice
• Reviewing and approving risk management process recommendations and ensuring the impact of risks is eliminated or significantly mitigated. Expediting matters as necessary to secure efficient completion of the overall Programme
• Ensure contract management and development activities are completed to support the programme (in consultation the Procurement, Finance and Legal)
Your passions and experience will help you become a technical specialist and process owner with our Operations Support services including service improvement and add further value to our service offerings. You will be expected to contribute towards the creation and ongoing maintenance of PMO documentation and overall Integrated Master Schedule and provide material to support the Project work or the Operational Support service.
You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously to achieve day to day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables. Whilst also owning a variety of activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPIs and SLAs. You must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.
WHO DO WE NEED?
We are looking for someone with excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills who has:
Proven track record in successfully delivering projects or task work packages.
Able to demonstrate experience (minimum 5 years) in Programme and Project Management.
Able to demonstrate experience/knowledge of Agile project delivery methodologies. Particularly Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
Good interpersonal skills and judgement for dealing with both internal and external stakeholders to develop strong working relations to support achieving objectives.
Ability to engage and work within a multi-functional programme team comprising both customer, supplier and internal staff with an awareness of engineering principles.
Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of business, finance and personnel management techniques and the commercial aspects of projects.
The ability to communicate, negotiate and influence effectively.
Enthusiastic self-starter with good verbal communication
Excellent written communication through the use of e-mail, presentations and reports
