Lime Pictures are looking for an Intern to join the Lime Digital team for 6 months and learn from what they do running the digital side of Lime Pictures programmes and projects. Through official websites, social media and video the team enhance the storytelling of Lime Pictures programmes and get the audiences excited about our shows.

Lime Pictures are looking for an Intern to join our Digital department from March 2015 until August 2015.


Deadline: 10am Monday 26th January


Interviews: Tuesday 10th February


Start date: Monday 2nd March


In return for a passion about using the web to enhance TV programmes we’ll teach you everything we know.  This is an opportunity to gain valuable skills in using social media, websites and video to talk to people and get them excited about the programmes they love.


Based at the Lime Pictures site in Liverpool, this role will cover both Hollyoaks and The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), including other programmes we produce and the work we do with commercial brands.  You will get on-the-job teaching and experience of making content across text, photos and video.


We are looking for someone who has an excellent writing ability, with an emphasis on humour.

                                                                          

A covering letter explaining why you would like this internship and what will make you stand out from everyone else applying (max 300 words)


Tell us about extra video clips you’ve watched online about a TV programme and why you think they are good or bad.  These should be original videos (not outtakes or programme clips) and not from a Lime Pictures produced programme (max 200 words)


Watch either an episode of Hollyoaks or The Only Way is Essex and write three tweets in our style.  Include some screen grabs with captions.  Give us the date the episode was originally broadcast too

This is very much a web production placement and would not be suitable for someone looking to work in TV production.


The successful candidate should have the following skills, experiences and responsibilities -


CREATIVE

Working with the Lime Digital and Production teams to help create and maintain content content (e.g. backstage videos and photos, campaign ideas etc.) across the traditional web, social networks, mobile and other digital platforms

Help come up with content ideas based upon a brief and storylines as well as contributing to wide idea generation


BRAND ACTIVITY

To become a brand expert for the TV programmes Lime Pictures produce

Learn about the needs and motivations of the different audiences who watch the TV programmes

Help produce sponsored/branded content that fulfills commercial partner’s requirements


DELIVERY

Assist in taking on and off set photos

Develop writing for web skills by drafting articles within the style of the programme, either from scratch or rewriting existing copy

Develop filming and video editing skills

Research topics and content

Co-create content for social networks or other third party sites

Monitor audience activity across social networks

Help produce reports on audience traffic and behavour identifying what content is performing best

Manipulate images using photo editing software

Use a range of CMSs to enter web contact

To carry out administrative duties and support the digital team with general tasks

Communicate effectively with key talent and artistes

To work along side TV production colleagues on set in a professional manner

To ensure their work is of high quality, error free and delivered in time to meet broadcast deadlines


ADDITIONAL

Undertake other duties which are reasonable and appropriate to the post.


Skills and Experience 

Demonstrable experience of writing, ideally for a youth audience, ideally with humour, and ideally for the web

Photography skills including the use of the basic functions of a digital camera

Personal experience of using Facebook, Twitter and at least one other social network

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Strong knowledge of popular TV programmes in the UK, especially those produced by Lime Pictures

Experience of delivering work to strict deadlines

The confidence to gather content while on a TV shoot and work under the associated demands

Excellent knowledge of pop culture and what is popular online (memes, internet crazes etc.)
