Job description

As a Pump Workshop Manager, you will oversee the workshop’s efficiency, ensuring high-quality stripping and rebuilding of customer pumps and motors. You will maintain an organised and safe work environment, complete detailed reports, and support engineers with technical expertise. Your role will align workshop operations with business needs while driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop.
  • Strip, assess, and rebuild pumps and motors to a high standard.
  • Ensure all required parts are in place for successful installation.
  • Complete and upload digital pump reports promptly.
  • Identify repair opportunities based on lead times and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and lifting/slinging gear.
  • Work closely with the Technical Manager to improve workshop processes.
  • Ensure service quality meets agreed standards and response times.
  • Support and guide engineers, sharing technical expertise.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience in pump and motor rebuilding.
  • Strong knowledge of sprinkler systems (BSEN12845, Factory Mutual regulations).
  • Hands-on experience in a workshop environment.
  • Technical background, ideally with fire sprinkler systems experience.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and improve processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Customer-facing experience with a strong service mindset.
  • PC literacy, including Microsoft Office.
  • Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.
