We’ve got a fantastic job for a Livestock Driver to join our Colne manufacturing site. Reporting directly into the Livestock Transport Manager, and will be responsible for dealing directly with suppliers when collecting Livestock.
Requirements of the Job
In this job as Livestock Driver You will drive an articulated HGV collecting Livestock from farms and Livestock Marts throughout the country and deliver to our abattoirs. You will be responsible for ensuring all legal regulations are adhered to in respect of drivers hours laws and the road transport working time directive and ensuring vehicle daily checks are completed and recorded with any defects reported to the VMU. You will ensure the vehicle interior is cleaned and disinfected between loads of livestock as well as ensuring that all livestock is fit to travel prior to loading and that quantities are correct. You will complete the relevant paperwork for the species being transported, such as passports and licences as well as maintaining the relationship between the company and its suppliers.

In this job as Livestock Driver you’ll need a full HGV C+E driving licence and City & Guilds Transport of Animals by road qualification (long journey for cattle, sheep & pigs). You will have A good working knowledge of the main motorway/trunk road network throughout the country and a thorough understanding of the laws relating to Drivers hours and working time directive. You will have the ability to self motivated and forward plan to ensure legal compliance at all times and an ability to communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues and suppliers.
About Colne Manufacturing
Woodhead Bros Colne was re-developed in 2013/4 covering 180,000 sq ft on 9 acres of land. There are 840 colleagues and it runs a 5 day operation. They supply Morrisons' stores and Farmer's Boy with raw materials to produce a full range of butchery products including materials for sausage, pies and cooked meats. It is one of the largest meat processing facilities in Europe.
